I took a break on the wedding posts for the last few months while holidays took center stage. But, it’s about time to finish all the recap posts, don’t ya think!
I made these adorable hanging lanterns from wide mouth mason jars to use as extra lighting above the dance floor. They were super easy & so cheap! I used touch lights from the Dollar Tree & filled them with Dollar Tree batteries for extra savings. The batteries lasted long past the entire night, so it worked out. We hung them in the trees the morning of, then had a few boys on ladders unscrew the jars & touch them on a couple of hours before the ceremony. Altogether they worked wonderfully. They work fabulously in my little trees at home too!
To make your own you need spray paint in your desired color, widemouth mason jars (they MUST be widemouth!), touch lights from the Dollar Tree, twine & batteries.
Use painter’s tape to cover up the lights then spray paint whatever color works best for your needs. You can always leave them be, but they come in a pretty bright blue & radiant red. Once dry, peel off the sticker backing & attach the widemouth mason jar lids. Aim for the middle! If they get too off center the jar will not close right.
See how good I am at getting it in the middle? Lol. Do as I say, not as I do.
Now, screw on the jar & loop twine around both sides. Tie the ends together & leave it lengthy so they hang down nicely.
You can always use these on tables too & forget the string. I made some with those super short mason jars for extra lighting on each table too. Place them upside down or right side up.
These lights are perfect now the suns beginning to stay out a bit later & things are warming up out there. Patio parties are soon to come & nights spent grilling out. These lanterns are sure to brighten things up.
Here’s one above the dance floor at our wedding. They added the right amount of rustic intertwined with twinkle lights.
