I hope all your Mondays are off to a simple start after what I’m sure was a crazy weekend preparing for the holidays! I’m trying to wrap up my loose ends over here so I can spend some time enjoying & soaking it all in.
I have a good craft to help you wind down your evening for one last holiday touch.
Globes ever so popular right now & while I would love a whole collection, I’ve only broken down to buy one! I painted it with chalkboard paint & used it in our wedding decor. I had it hanging out in my craft room for a while, but I thought it could use a Christmas facelift. Can’t we all? Ha!
I decided to follow the plaid fad & cover it in the pattern of the season. I just adore how it turned out! I’ve worked plaid into all my Christmas decor using different patterns & colors, so the globe is a wonderful addition.
To make your own you’ll need a globe, plaid tissue paper, mod podge & a foam brush.
First, tear your plaid paper up into large pieces. I found my paper from Target, but I know they have some at Walmart & even the Dollar Tree. You may want to paint your globe a neutral color- black or white- before covering.
Coat your entire globe in a thin layer of mod podge.
Now start laying the paper over the mod podge, adding more when pieces overlap. Continue until the entire globe is covered. Then seal with a final coat of mod podge.
Don’t forget to pin it for later!
Let dry, add some jingle bells & add to your Christmas vignette!
Let me know how yours turns out!
