With the 31st just a few days away, I figure most people are still getting last minute Halloween things together. So this Jacko’Lantern is a quickie. It’ll top off that princess/fairy/ballerina/anything with glitter costume in a snap.
This ribbon Jacko’Lantern is a super easy way to personalize your candy container without any big messes or glue involved. However, adult supervision is required on this one. Stabbing the plastic pumpkin with a knife is necessary.
All you need is dollar candy bucket (found mine at Target, of course), ribbons of choice, scissors & a knife. I actually used a steak knife, but it’d probably be much safer to use a craft knife if you’ve got one.
Ignore the fuzzy socks.
Use the knife to punch x’s into the bottom of the bucket wherever you’d like your ribbons to be. Be very careful & do not do this on top of your lap! Please do it over a table top, the floor, or outside.
Cut your ribbons however long you’d like them. Keep in mind the height of the person using the Jacko’Lantern too. Tie a knot at one end & push the knot through one of the x’s you cut. Use the eraser end of a pencil to help push it through if necessary.
Continue tying knots & pushing them through until you’ve reached the desired effect. You can make this as full as you want it. I used a total of 8 ribbons on mine measuring anywhere from 1-2ft.
Then you’re all done & it’s time to fill it up!
Of course, you can update this candy collector for just about any costume. If you were being an astronaut, it would be super cool to use red, orange & yellow ribbons as flames & turn your bucket into a rocket. Just sayin’!
You could hang these up & use them for some cute decor as well. The ribbons would be so pretty flying in the wind.
Happy Trick or Treating Y’all!
PS- Linking up at some of my fave places, check ’em out!
