XO Valentine’s Canvases

I’ve got another fun Valentine’s craft y’all today! As I was coming up with mantle ideas I decided I wanted to go simple & black, white, & gold. I originally wanted to paint on some canvases I had lying around, but they were kind of small. As I was taking down my January mantle, I noticed the plain canvases I’d made to add some height. I knew they would be perfect to repurpose into my valentine’s mantle with a little paint & would make a bigger impact than normal canvases.

You can make some yourself in just half an hour or so.

You need an embroidery hoop & some plain colored fabric. Lay the hoop on top of the fabric & cut around it leaving at least an inch of space. You can always trim it later. Tighten the hoop together sandwiching the fabric in-between then trim the back edges as needed.

I’ve bought tons of embroidery hoops from thrift stores for just change over the years. So I’d look there first if you don’t have any!

Now you just need some paint & brushes.

I started right in the middle then filled in all around with X’s & O’s.

This supposed to be “rustic” so mistakes are welcome & encouraged. 🙂

I had to do a couple coats to get the look I wanted. Keep going till it’s all full. Or don’t. It’s up to you!

You can use any colors combos you can think up. Let me know if you make it!

Happy Tuesday folks!
