HLSR 2014

I warned you yesterday that you’d get to hear all about the rodeo today! I have plenty of photos to share too. I know you’re excited! Just try to stay with me!

The Rodeo isn’t the Rodeo without something fried y’all. This is always our stop for fried favorites, “Fried What?” The name says it all.

SONY DSC

Fried Twinkie, fried Snickers, fried Snickers. You better believe we ate it all.

SONY DSC

Nothing makes him happier than fried foods. Can’t blame him.

SONY DSC

You’ve got to take a photo in front of a giant tractor too. I mean come on! It’s a must.

We spent most of our afternoon in here, where all the shops are. Make sure you stop by M.L. Leddy’s. Seriously the best handmade boots in the world! They’re located at the Stockyards in Fort Worth, but set up shop here every rodeo.

SONY DSC

I also got my first hat since I was a kid! I love the red!

Now onto the bull riding!

SONY DSC

This is one of the few photos I got with the bull’s face in it. I love it!

SONY DSC

This is one of the most exciting parts!

I read Nicholas Spark’s newest book a few months ago & felt like an expert watching the bull riding segment this time around. The book was about an art student & a bull rider. How romantic right!

SONY DSC

& here’s someone getting bucked off…

SONY DSC

Here’s this guy riding.

SONY DSC

& here he is all done riding. The inevitable end.

SONY DSC

That bull wasn’t ready to go back in yet. He just wanted to give everyone a good show. He knew he was in Houston!

SONY DSC

These guys are crazy, yet I love watching them!

SONY DSC

Oh we can’t forget about those chuck wagon races! My wagon won the first time around.

SONY DSC

The calf scramble is always hilarious to watch too.

SONY DSC

30 kids. 15 cows. I think the cows won last night. It was the most violent calf scramble I have ever seen! There were bloody noses, kids getting trampled, little girls crying, & a couple of kids needed help walking off.

SONY DSC

The 15 kids who got the calves were real champions. Let me tell you.

SONY DSC

Watching the rodeo grounds transform to the stage is a pretty darn impressive sight.

SONY DSC

It all seems to happen so quickly. One minute you’re watching the horses then bam! The next minute you’re watching Florida-Georgia Line on a massive spinning stage. Talk about crazy!

SONY DSC

In the meantime, you’re entertained with every rancher babies favorite past time, mutton bustin’.

SONY DSC

They are absolutely adorable! The mutton bustin’ champ said he had mutton bustin’ at his birthday party. Can I have that for my birthday too?!

SONY DSC

I hope my kids will get to do this one day! Every one gets a belt buckle for participating & I can’t think of anything cuter than a 5 year old with a big, shiny belt buckle.

SONY DSC

The lambs are off & Florida-Georgia Line is on.

SONY DSC

They did great for their first rodeo.
